Richard E. Malecz, DMD, MBA


Dr. Malecz grew up in Denville, New Jersey, and graduated from Morris Knolls High School, where he was selected to the National Honor Society and earned varsity letters in soccer, fencing, and track. Upon graduation, he was selected as the Outstanding Scholar/Athlete, receiving the Varsity Club Award. He received his bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Notre Dame, where he also lettered as a member of the varsity intercollegiate fencing team and was selected to the National Notre Dame Monogram Club.

Dr. Malecz obtained his doctorate degree in dental medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where the faculty and administration selected him to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. Following dental school, he served a 2-year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Indiana University Medical Center Hospitals and concurrently the graduate program in Pediatric Dentistry at Indiana University School of Dentistry. His teachers at Indiana University were many of the best-known pediatric dentists in the world, who helped develop pediatrics as a specialty in dentistry. His research while there was in the field of child abuse and its relationship to pediatric dentistry, which was published in the Journal of Dentistry for Children, and has led to many additional supplemental studies by researchers around the globe. Following completion of his residency, he received his State of New Jersey Specialty Certification in Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Malecz later received his Master's Degree from Rutgers University and has been on the faculty of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he has been teaching part-time for 20 years and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor. He is a member of the Department of Surgery at Saint Clare's Hospital, and has previously served there as a member of the Saint Clare's Executive Committee, Director of the General Dentistry A.D.A. Approved Residency Program, and as the Chairman of the Department of Dentistry.

Dr. Malecz is extremely proud of his 2 children, Kristine, who is married and a registered nurse in Charlotte, North Carolina, and served with him as a medical missionary for the poor children of Pamploma Alta, Peru; and Michael, who is an attorney and investment adviser in NY. He also holds a M.B.A. degree in International Business at IE Business School from Madrid, Spain.
